Job Summary:

The Miami University Computer & Information Technology department is looking to hire two server administrators (one rising junior IT student and one rising senior IT student) to oversee the CIT department’s servers. Both Networking and Software Development students are encouraged to apply, however, the ideal candidate will need the proper experience.

Essential Duties:

The candidates will be required to:
● Work independently, with little direction.
● Document changes to the system using change-control software.
● Manage operating systems/upgrades on the CIT Servers.
● Manage an enterprise VMWare environment including creating and removing virtual machines to meet specifications.
● Manage an email-based help system to resolve issues with the servers.
● Train faculty and students on how to interact with the server.
● Ability to configure and troubleshoot enterprise VMWare deployments.
● Familiarity with network automation using tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.

This rising junior position will potentially be a two-year commitment. The rising senior will be responsible for training the rising junior, in addition to other duties listed above.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Ability to configure and troubleshoot enterprise VMWare deployments.
● Familiarity with network automation using tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Should be familiar with basic Windows Server administration.
● Should be able to install and troubleshoot Microsoft Server 2008, and later.
● Should be able to deploy and troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory.
● Should be able to deploy and troubleshoot Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
● Should be familiar with creating and managing VMWare virtual machines.
● Should be able to deploy GNS3, Visual Studio, etc...
● Should be familiar with Linux.
● Should be confident with mid-level web design.
● Should be familiar with Python programming.
