Miami University’s Communications and Marketing department has been charged with building and maintaining the university’s brand on a local, regional, and national stage. This dynamic and award-winning team is comprised of nearly 70 marketing and communications professionals and is looking to hire an Associate Director for the Enrollment Marketing and Communication team.

In partnership with Enrollment Marketing and Communication (EMC) team members, University Communication and Marketing (UCM) colleagues, and divisional partners, the associate director plays an integral role in the realization of organizational priorities and institutional goals related to student recruitment and enrollment. Reporting to the assistant vice president of EMC, the position manages and executes strategic, integrated, and comprehensive communication plans to recruit Miami students, utilizing varying media and best practices. Through data collection and analysis of key metrics, the position measures the effectiveness of communication efforts to further inform divisional practices. This position supervises other unclassified communication staff.

As a member of the EMC team, the associate director supports communication for various populations, with primary responsibility for some of the categories within the team’s portfolio, which encompasses undergraduate and graduate recruitment, recruitment-related visits and events, and populations including:
- Domestic and international students
- First year, transfer, and graduate students
- High achieving students
- On-campus and online students
- Parents and family of undergraduate students
- High school and college counselors
- Underrepresented students

Duties/Physical Demands:

- Serve as an EMC and UCM liaison with Admission, EMSS, and Miami Online to create, implement, assess, and modify communication plans and projects that meet university and divisional goals. Ensure that communication and workflows are monitored, prioritized, and adjusted as needed based on campus partner and audience needs and according to best-available data and analysis. Communication includes but is not limited to, email, print, web, text, video, digital marketing, and social media.
- Oversee EMC work for Admission events and visits, including but not limited to, setting up event registration and related communication within the university’s CRM (Slate), creating and updating event-related web sites, and producing event-related print materials.
- Contribute to communication projects as a writer and editor, working with creative teams that include graphic designers, web developers, digital communication specialists, photographers, and videographers.
- Serve as a mentor during the orientation and transition of new EMC staff members, as a direct supervisor, and in a leadership role within UCM through service on central committees and task forces.
- Oversee delivery, inventory, and distribution for print and digital communication.
- Pursue continuous professional development in a role that serves as an admission subject-matter expert for the broader marketing department. Stay current with communication innovation and best practices, particularly in higher education admission and enrollment.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and at least five years of full-time, professional experience with increasing responsibility in college admission, higher education marketing or communication, and/or marketing/sales/communication. Master's Degree may be considered in lieu of experience.

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience with CRM software or other relational databases.
- Familiarity with direct mail processes and postal requirements.

- Experience in integrating technology as part of a larger marketing strategy.
- Demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of accuracy, attention to detail, and handling of confidential information.
- Ability to work independently with minimum direction and strict adherence to deadlines while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of marketing and communication strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various internal and external constituencies.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with various software, design, and web applications.
