Salary/Grade:

$11.30 - $12.30 / hr

Hours per week:

5-10 hours per week during Summer 2024

Duration of Appointment:

Summer 2024 and can continue into 2024-2025 Academic year.

Job Summary:

This position would assist with day-to-day duties in a research lab, with a focus on plant-insect interactions at the Oxford campus.

Essential Duties:

Assisting with maintenance of insect colonies used for plant-insect research. This includes feeding moth larvae and adults, making diet, maintaining insect cages, sanitizing, helping with laboratory tasks, and maintaining a lab notebook. May also assist with data entry and maintenance of research projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Have an interest in insect development and animal care
Ability to listen and follow directions
Ability to consistently arrive on time
Ability to work independently
Have a willingness to learn
Must be able to work under a variety of environmental conditions, including warm and humid temperatures inside a walk-in grow chamber

Preferred Qualifications:

Have taken introductory biology
