Job Summary:

THIS POSITION IS FROM MAY 18 TO AUGUST 25TH WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING HIRED ON FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR.
This position supports all aspects of the Armstrong Student Center summer operation, including information desk, building supervision and event support. Event Production Team (EPT) members support the event production process of all 2,500+ events in the Armstrong Student Center (ASC). This position works behind-the-scenes in order for successful events, meetings and programs to occur in ASC. Most shifts occur after 5pm and on the weekends, though there are some morning and mid-day shifts each week.
Work assignments require advanced knowledge, skills, or abilities.
Some independent judgment or initiative.
A considerable knowledge of the work process as obtained through on-the-job training.
May involve supervisory responsibilities for an activity of limited scope.
May require a significant amount of physical exertion, adverse hour, or working conditions.

Essential Duties:

* Providing direction and information to students, faculty, staff and university guests
* Assisting with building oversight after normal business hours
* Working with full-time staff on special summer projects
* Provide supervision to Red Zone gaming areas
* Managing lost and found and study room reservations
* Providing input into the development of Fall Student Staff Training
* Working closely with Associate Director for Production and Operations to implement Orientation, Alumni Weekend, Summer Conferences and Weddings
* Serving as a liaison to professional staff on duty after normal business hours
* Serving as a liaison to catering staff during events with food service
* Help set event spaces for upcoming events including moving tables, chairs, stage pieces, podiums and other room pieces that weigh up to 50 pounds or more; can push/pull more than 200 lbs.
* Providing outstanding customer service to all users of the building and event attendees
* Provide technical support for events in ASC through knowledge of AV equipment including sound, projection and lighting with limited supervision (no prior knowledge necessary/ training provided)
* Ensuring a safe and clean environment. This does involve some cleaning.
* Leading in emergency situation response
* Monitoring building use, locking and unlocking spaces as needed and reporting damage, custodial and maintenance issued
* Conducting regular building rounds
* Other assignments as needed to ensure smooth operation of the student center over the summer

Minimum Qualifications: * Must sign confidentiality and employment agreements within one week of hiring
* Successful completion of training is required
* Evening and/or weekend availability
* Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs; carts can weigh more than 100 lbs to push
