Job Summary:

Technical Interns will provide office hours for open source programming support to the broader Miami community in the CADS Learning Lab. These office hours will focus primarily on general analytical problem solving, data visualization theory and practice, troubleshooting of code, coding logic, and “how to” coding questions. The Technical Interns will also be responsible for developing one or more Coding or Analytics Bootcamp Micro-credentials. The Bootcamps will focus on teaching the fundamentals of coding and or analytical fundamentals to students unfamiliar with open source programming and data visualization techniques. As a way to support the data literacy and data fluency efforts of CADS, the Technical Interns will offer analytics office hours to assist with the manipulation and interpretation of data to solve analytics and data science projects (prior approval from an instructor is needed before the Technical Interns can offer support of class projects).

Essential Duties:

Provide regular analytics office hours in the CADS Learning Lab, McVey Data Science Building
Develop micro-credential Bootcamps and workshops for the broader Miami Community
Assist and supervise project interns in the Learning Lab
Assist with Instructor-led Coding Bootcamps and Analytics Workshops as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in SQL, R and/or Python
Experience with DataViz tools (e.g., R Shiny, Matplotlib, Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
Critical problem solving skills
Ability to work and cooperate in a multidisciplinary team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems & Analytics or Computer Science & Engineering or related major
