Chair and Associate Professor/Full Professor who is committed to consultative decision making to implement the vision of the Department of Teaching, Curriculum, and Educational Inquiry (TCE) and its future direction. The Chair is responsible for recruiting and hiring an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty, skilled in the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application, and integration of knowledge for these different majors and minors, as well as mentoring and evaluating faculty. The Chair oversees assessments for all programs, both internal and external accreditation through CAEP. The chair also has budget responsibilities and is expected to represent the department at the university, state, national, and international levels as well as promote relationships with alumni. The Chair is expected to model exemplary teaching, research (including the pursuit of external funding) and creativity and foster a culture of these expectations in the department. The Chair will also promote diversity, global awareness, and social responsibility throughout teaching, curricula, and educational inquiry curricula.
College of Education, Health and Society (EHS): Founded in 1902, the College of Education, Health, and Society was Miami University’s first professional school and home to Miami’s first graduate of color. CEHS continues to lead the way with the highest percentage of diverse students and faculty across the university. The College embraces the rich opportunities available for cross-disciplinary collaboration across its six departments (Educational Leadership; Educational Psychology; Family Science and Social Work; Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health; Sport Leadership and Management; and Teaching, Curriculum, and Educational Inquiry).
TCE includes 8 majors: Primary Education (PK-5), Middle Childhood Education (grades 4-9), Adolescent and Young Adult Education, Integrated English Language Arts (grades 7-12), Integrated Mathematics (grades 7-12), Integrated Science Education (grades 7-12), Integrated Social Studies (grades 7-12), and Foreign Language Education (grades K-12). The department also has combined Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and a Minor in Education, Teaching, and Learning. The Department of Teaching, Curriculum and Educational Inquiry promotes a comprehensive understanding of the interconnected relationships between theory, research, and practice. TCE programs prepare future and current teachers who design and implement culturally and contextually relevant curricula and pedagogy. Empowered by a critical and substantive understanding of research, these teachers are positioned to confront social injustices, apply global perspectives, and actively participate in a democratic society.

Minimum Qualifications: |
Ph.D. [or doctorate] in closely related fields within the Department of Teaching, Curriculum, and Educational Inquiry. Awarded tenure at Miami with a current appointment as Full/Associate Professor in Teaching, Curriculum, and Educational Inquiry. Established record of teaching, research and service.
