Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor

Job Summary:

Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor to teach courses in sport management and introduction to sport analytics. Appointment begins August, 2024.

Sport Leadership and Management (SLAM) is a growing program of 600+ undergraduate students and 40+ graduate students. The mission of SLAM is to prepare students to succeed in leadership positions in the sport industry (recreational to professional, youth to adult) by providing them with knowledge and skills to critically analyze and innovatively engage in the business and culture of sport. The SLAM undergraduate students can major in sport management, coaching, sport journalism, or sport media and communication and minor in sport management, coaching or sport analytics. The Masters of Science in Sport Leadership is a research-based, critical study of sport practices, structures, performance, and culture, for students interested in careers in mental performance consulting, coaching, sport management, and doctoral study towards higher education careers.

College of Education, Health and Society (EHS): Founded in 1902, the College of Education, Health, and Society was Miami University’s first professional school and home to Miami’s first graduate of color. CEHS continues to lead the way with the highest percentage of diverse students and faculty across the university. The College embraces the rich opportunities available for cross-disciplinary collaboration across its six departments (Educational Leadership; Educational Psychology; Family Science and Social Work; Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health; Sport Leadership and Management; and Teacher Education).

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in sport management, sport analytics, data analytics or closely-related field required by date of appointment for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor. Master's degree in sport management, sport analytics, data analytics or closely-related field by date of appointment for appointment as Instructor.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with: 1) evidence of high-quality instruction; 2) experience teaching sport management or sport analytics courses at the undergrad and graduate level, or 3) sport industry experience with business analytics.
