Job Summary:

 

Nationally recognized as one of the most outstanding undergraduate institutions, Miami University is looking to fill the role of Bursar Coordinator. This professional staff member reports to the Assistant Bursar for all assigned functions and is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Bursar’s office. Assists in creating and implementing related business processes and is responsible for compliance interpretation and issues for University, Federal and State programs.

This position is approved for remote work on a hybrid basis. Remote work is not a right, but a working arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason.

 

Duties/Physical Demands:

• With overview from the Assistant Bursar, manages the administration of the Graduate Assistant tuition installment plans.
• Schedules, coordinates, implements, and analyzes third-party billing and waiver procedures, and serves as a point of contact for third-party administration.
• Ensure that bursar and financial policies are followed, and internal controls are enforced.
• Evaluate reporting needs and develop ad hoc and daily operational reports based upon those needs using available reporting tools.
• Develop a standard set of benchmarking statistics to be gathered and reported throughout the year.
• Works with management to review and update office policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations.
• Assist in management, development and support of staff training, research, review, and work with the Bursar and Assistant Bursar.
• Updates and validates student campus records to ensure proper fee assessment.
• Supports refund processing by reviewing and responding to all student refund requests.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree or 2 years of work experience

 

Desired Qualifications:

• Desired qualifications include experience with Higher Ed systems, ad hoc reporting, experience in a customer service environment, and Title IV Federal Financial Aid requirements.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Applicants must have strong critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, and strong negotiating skills; must be detail minded, organized; must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; must have the ability to handle numerous tasks, assign priorities, and handle confidential information; must have the ability to establish working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, university personnel, students, parents and outside collection agencies.
