Job Title: Water Fitness Instructor
Salary/Grade:

 $12 - $16 Per Hour

Hours Per Week:

5-10 Hours per week

Job Summary:

 

Responsibilities are to teach water fitness classes with the safety and well-being of patrons always first priority, including answering or directing patron questions and concerns, as well as maintaining upkeep and cleanliness of the water fitness equipment

 

Duties/Physical Demands:

• Maintains a safe and friendly environment, keeping patron well-being and satisfaction the priority.
• Completes the Instructor Training Program (ITP) and/or completion of successful audition.
• Creates and instructs varying types of water fitness lesson plans appropriate for multiple levels.
• Arrives at least 15 minutes prior to class to prepare music, check equipment cleanliness, set up equipment if needed, and greet participants as they arrive.
• Introduce yourself prior to each class and explain the format of the class to participants.
• Interacts with all class members to ensure that they have a positive, safe experience.
• Starts and ends classes on time.
• Stays after class to ensure all participants’ questions are answered, equipment is put away and clean.
• Attends scheduled instructor meetings (generally once a month).
• Maintains current instructor, BBP and CPR certifications through continuing education workshops or classes, remaining up-to-date on safety and physiological issues as they pertain to water exercise.
• Wears attire appropriate for water fitness instruction.
• Keeps substitutions to a minimum, and preferably for urgent matters only.
• Knowledgeable in all emergency procedures.
• Follows all staff requirements. Refer to RSC, Fitness, and Water Fitness manuals.
• Present for staff evaluations. Refer to RSC staff manual.
• Helps to promote the program in the Miami University and Oxford Community.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Completes the Instructor Training Program (ITP) and/or completion of successful audition.
BBP and CPR certified or completes it within 30 days of hiring.
