Job Title:

Maintenance/Repair Technician, Senior

Salary/Grade:

$17.17 hr/F2

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of mechanical tasks related to performing general maintenance on university buildings.

Duties/Physical Demands:

Reviews work orders and investigates site; determines proper repair procedures; estimates time and materials needed.
Performs repair work; replaces tile; repairs doors and window; unstops sinks and other plumbing fixtures; repairs steam valves; replaces motors and pumps on heating/air conditioning equipment; repairs electric switches and receptacles.
Serves as informational resource to staff.
Plans and conducts a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
May assist in setting up of stages, rigging, curtains, and lighting system for special events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing repair and maintenance
Knowledge of mechanical repair
Ability to read schematics

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Continuous standing or walking, frequent climbing, and lifting of materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Somewhat disagreeable working conditions. Some exposure to several unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable.
