Job Summary:

Center for Career Exploration and Success Mission
This Center empowers undergraduate and graduate students to engage in career exploration and experiential learning to optimize their professional and personal potential through connections with employers and the Miami career community. This engagement also deepens self-knowledge, enabling students to choose meaningful career paths and excel in a diverse, global society.

Peer Career Coaches Team
The objective is to elevate and foster substantive engagement for career exploration. The Peer Career Coaches are a dedicated team of students who have specialized training in career development and a passion for supporting students on their career and professional journey.

Position I - Career Assistant for Academic Year 2024-2025 (Fall and Spring Semester)
Career Assistants (CAs) serve primarily as peer career coaches to all Miami University students. CA's duties include assistance in developing and critiquing resumes and professional documents, in addition to providing guidance on job search strategies, and LinkedIn profiles. Additional responsibilities include facilitating in-person and virtual workshops and presentations on topics relevant to career and professional development.

Position II - Student Mock Interviewer for Academic Year 2024-2025 (Fall and Spring Semester)
The Center for Career Exploration and Success is offering paid mock interviewer positions to individuals of current junior or graduate-level status who are interested in leading students through the in-person and virtual interview process, providing feedback on key areas of interviews, offering resume reviews, and coaching students about interviewing techniques. Additional responsibilities include reviewing and providing feedback for Big Interview class assignments, facilitating career development workshops, and presentations on topics relevant to career development, including the Interview for Success Workshop.

Essential Duties:

Responsibilities
- Lead students through a 45-minute interview process including feedback, coaching, and resume critique designed by the Mock Interview Program
- Facilitate Interviews for Success Workshops
- Conduct reviews of Big Interview recorded class assignments
- Conduct mock interviewing, critiquing, and facilitating career development workshops and presentations.
- Dress professionally when acting in the capacity of an in-person and virtual Mock Interviewer or facilitating workshops and presentations.
- Conduct interactive, 1:1 peer reviews on student resumes, cover letters, and other job search documents.
- Conduct virtual resume reviews utilizing career management tools such as VMOCK and Handshake.
- Lead and facilitate workshops for CCES, student organizations, residence halls, and other campus partners as requested.
- Promote and attend services and events of CCES and Peer Career Coaches Team
Introduce students to CCES online resources including Big Interview, Handshake, Vmock, What Can IDo with This Major, GoingGlobal, ONet, etc.
- Attend weekly one-hour Peer Career Coaches team meetings.
- Must be fully committed to work and attend training in BOTH Fall and Spring Terms for Academic Year 2024/2025.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications
- Must be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student in good standing at Miami University (both academically and disciplinary).

**Junior class in good standing (senior class standing in the fall) or graduate student for
Student Mock Interviewer role.

- Seeking individuals with maturity, motivation, and commitment.
- Show a commitment to diversity by accepting and learning from others while creating and maintaining an atmosphere of positive engagement.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and collaborative skills.
- Willing to serve in a role model capacity to other students.
- Sincere interest in career exploration, the interview process, and providing constructive feedback to students.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills: ability to give clear guidance via phone, email, or in person regarding services and programs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of the PCC team and the overall CCES team.
- Strong organizational skills: ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn how to use new technologies/databases such as Handshake, VMock, Big Interview, and the like
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be available to staff occasional evening events and programs (between 5:00-7:00 pm).
