Job Summary:

Assistant Teaching Professor/Assistant Lecturer to teach some of the following courses: Clothing Construction Techniques, Fashion Draping, Flat Patternmaking, Junior and Senior Fashion Design Studios, Fashion Portfolio, Introduction to the Fashion Industry, Fashion Design Elements and Principles, Textiles for Fashion, Contemporary Fashion History, Fashion Illustration, and Fashion (technical drawing) and Digital Tools, advise students, and engage in service to the department, division, university, and/or community at large. The position may involve "program coordination" work in addition to teaching.

This program is a growing interdisciplinary Fashion Program. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and passionate educator and fashion enthusiast who excels in a collaborative and collegial environment. “The Fusion of Design and Business” is how we describe the Fashion Program: Created in partnership with the Farmer School of Business, the Fashion Program comprises a Fashion Minor and a Fashion Co-major with three tracks from which to select: Fashion Corporate Business, Fashion Design, and Fashion Entrepreneurship.  This program emphasizes creativity and experimentation, while offering students the opportunity to develop a broad set of basic skills in design language, technical skills, and the business of fashion. The large fashion student community at Miami University includes several student organizations, including Miami University Fashion and Design (MUF&D), MUSE MGMT, UP Magazine, and Futures in Retail.

Minimum Qualifications:

MFA in Fashion or closely related area by appointment date for appointment as Assistant Teaching Professor or a Master's degree in Fashion or closely related area with 3 years of applied/tested experience for appointment as Assistant Lecturer.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with a MFA or other relevant terminal degree; demonstrated experience as an exceptional teacher at the undergraduate level; previous experience with curriculum development and innovative initiatives; industry experience.
