Climbing Wall Route Setter 2023 - Student Assistant

Salary/Grade:

$11.30 - $12.30 / hr

Hours per week:

10 - 25

Duration of Appointment:

12 Months

Job Summary:

Works with head Route Setter and Assistant Director to create and set quality boulder problems and top-rope routes. Works at height and with specific climbing and setting equipment. Consistent climbing experience preferred.

Essential Duties:

- Set quality top-rope routes and boulder problems for all levels of climbers
- Climb and verify ratings and safety of established routes/problems
- Write and post route descriptions on wall and in route setting binder
- Attend Setting Staff and Outdoor Pursuit Center All Staff Meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

- Must have or be able to obtain belay qualifications at Miami Rec Center Climbing Wall
- Must have current CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen Certifications or obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
