Job Title: Assistant/Associate Research Engineer- Comp Sci & Soft Eng Dept
Job Summary:

College of Engineering and Computing (CEC): Assistant/Associate Research Engineer candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong potential for developing and sustaining funded research program by closely collaborating with current CEC and MU faculty. This includes planning, initiating, and conducting research projects, interpreting experimental or computational results, as well as compiling and submitting proposals to relevant industries and federal/state agencies. The Research Engineer is also expected to publish high-quality papers on a regular basis and disseminate research results through peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, conference presentations, and forums.

Duties/Physical Demands:

Research engineer(s) are expected to engage in, be responsible for, and/or oversee a significant area of research or scholarship in a manner that advances the mission of the university in a significant way. Duties will include: conducting research in collaboration with CEC and MU faculty with similar research interests; publishing high-quality papers on a regular basis and disseminating research results through peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, and conference presentations; mentoring and directing graduate and undergraduate researchers; teaching one course per semester focused on research support; supporting the research through external funding after an initial appointment of 12 months.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or Software Engineering or a closely-related field by date of appointment.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with demonstrated record of developing independent research projects and experience in proposal development; demonstrated expertise and performance in conducting high quality, impactful research; experience working on funded research projects and familiarity with the funding process and reporting requirements associated with funded projects; demonstrated ability as an independent thinker capable of taking projects from ideas to reality; ability to develop proposals as a PI or Co-PI; following interdisciplinary research areas aligning with CEC research clusters in cybersecurity and information system security.
