Youth Climbing Team

Explorers (5-7 years)

Our youngest group of climbers strive to develop the fundamentals of safe climbing. Introductory concepts such as knot tying, spotting, and climbing vocabulary are integrated into plenty of time on the wall experiencing climbing first hand! If your child is looking to explore climbing, this is the place.

Discoverers (8-10 years)

After learning the fundamentals, young climbers can begin to discover more opportunities in climbing. At this point each climber is beginning to set their own goals. Our coaches then work with them to take the necessary steps to reach these goals. More advanced techniques are introduced as each climber’s ability increases. Returning climbers can help new climbers catch up, so don't worry if your 8-10 year old has never climbed with us before.

Adventurers (11-13 years)

At the 11-13 year-old group, climbers can dive even further into their climbing adventures. Climbers will continue to hone their specific climbing skills and look towards becoming more independent in the sport. Returning climbers can help new climbers catch up, so don't worry if your 11-13 year old has never climbed before.

Seekers (14-16 years)

Our oldest age group of climbers is ready to seek their own challenges. While always working to better their skills and knowledge of the sport, climbers will set goals, work together, and support each other as they grow in the sport. Returning climbers can help new climbers catch up, so don't worry if your 14-16 year old has never climbed before.

Summer 2026

There will be no formal practices for this age group during the summer. Practices will be offered for these climbers again in the fall season (late August). If your climber is interested in setting up private or semi-private lessons before the fall season, please reach out to Bridget Woods at oliverbm@MiamiOH.edu.
