The new clinical engineering program at Miami prepares students to deploy advanced medical devices, collect and analyze health-related information to mitigate a crisis, and build facilities and hospitals on the fly.
Examples of increased capacity include biomedical instrumentation, medical diagnostics, and surgical devices, bioinformatics, health informatics/data analytics, health informatics management, health care information technology and cyber-security, health information systems, project management, medical insurance, quality control, and regulatory affairs.
Miami’s program will be the first such program in Ohio, the second in the Midwest, the third in the United States, and the fourth in North America.
