Job Title:

Assistant Controller for Shared Accounting and Financial Services

Job Summary:

Directs the activities of the Shared Accounting and Financial Services Department to include the administration, coordination and analysis of budgets, financial policies, procedures, and planning to fulfill departmental requirements.

Duties:

Prepares, monitors and reviews annual budgets for each business unit within Campus Services and other auxiliary and administrative units as assigned. Works closely with directors in the preparation and development of auxiliary budgets, working strategically to consider the present and future financial needs and performance of these departments. 0.3; Directs the operation of the Campus Services Business Office. Supervises financial analysts, a contract manager and other business office staff within the department. Administers financial processes necessary for maintaining a fully functioning business office; Continuously seeks business process improvements through Lean techniques. 0.1; Conducts financial analyses and develops regular financial reports, including dashboard summaries, and takes actions necessary to assure that these department's financial goals are currently met and are prepared to meet future needs. 0.3; Develops metrics and tracking process for all units. Oversees comprehensive financial planning models, forecasting tools, timely tracking processes, and monitoring systems in collaboration, complying with best practices and generally accepted accounting and budget principles. 0.3.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; 8 years or more of experience; minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible budget or financial management experience required

Desired Qualifications:

Master's degree; a demonstrated strong working knowledge and application of Miami University.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated management and leadership experience requiring a high level of diplomacy and professionalism; thorough knowledge of budgeting principles, accounting practices and internal controls.

 

A strong working knowledge of the university's business intelligence tool and its accounting and budgeting systems preferred.
