Job Summary: |
Student Assistants will assist the librarians at the Walter Havighurst Special Collections and The University Archives located on the third floor of King Library. Position begins Summer of 2024. Minimum 10-hour-a-week commitment. Please note that this location is open Monday through Friday between 8 am-5 pm ONLY. |
Essential Duties: |
-Retrieving and reshelving materials for researchers or department projects. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Strong customer service ethic; great attention to detail; a basic understanding of the library system; a basic understanding of Microsoft Office software or Google Drive components; basic computer troubleshooting; excellent communication skills (reading, writing, speaking); ability to multitask and quickly learn. Minimum 10-hour-a-week commitment. Please note that this location is open Monday through Friday between 8 am-5 pm ONLY. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
Past work history in a library or museum focusing on reference or customer service; a basic understanding of how to search for materials in the Libraries' catalog; the knowledge of how to retrieve materials using Library of Congress call numbers. Students studying History, Museum Studies, IMS, Computer Science, or similar areas or wanting to pursue a career in Library Science are a plus but are not required. |
