Job Summary:

The American Red Cross Coordinator will assist the Aquatics Program Director(s) with the administration of American Red Cross Courses.

Graduate students with an assistantship and Teaching Associates need to obtain permission from the Graduate School to work in addition to their teaching/assistantship.

Essential Duties:

The American Red Cross Coordinator works with the full time Aquatic staff to develop training plans and in services to enhance the Undergraduate American Red Cross Instructors teaching skills and mentor new Instructors as well as teach a number of American Red Cross classes each semester.
Distribute and collect evaluations to all meet hosts and summarize the results.
Provide supervision of the Recreational Sports Center and equipment safety checks to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons.
Assist with department special events as requested.
Planning, coordinating, and teaching American Red Cross Courses. (Including but not limited to Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, Learn to Swim).
Supervising and evaluating American Red Cross Instructors.
Assisting with lifeguard and instructor in-services.
Test and document pool chemistry.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or within 30 days of hire.
Bachelor’s degree.
Candidates recommended for hire must pass a State of Ohio Criminal Background fingerprint check.

Preferred Qualifications: 

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT) and / or American
Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT)
Computer experience to include Excel, Word, Colorado Timing Systems, and Staff Scheduling software.
Experience in digital, print and social marketing; sponsorship; graphic design.
Professional communication skills.
