Job Summary:

This position supports the department by assisting those who come in or call the office, as well as assisting students with alternative testing accommodations. Other office work tasks as directed by the supervisor.

All work assignments are completed under close supervision.
Procedures are well established.
Minimal training or prior knowledge of work is required.

Essential Duties:

Maintain absolute confidentiality concerning clients who visit the office and/or utilize its services.

Duties include: greeting students; contributing to a warm, calm and welcoming environment for all; assisting with the accommodated testing process; scheduling appointments; answering the telephone and taking messages; copying; shredding; securing mail; responding to routine inquiries related to Counseling & Student Disability Services; responding to emergency situations by notifying the appropriate staff members; helping to maintain a neat office environment; other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to represent the office in a professional and caring manner
Ability to manage multiple tasks and challenging situations calmly and tactfully
Commitment to reliability and a strong work ethic
Good academic standing
Completion of interview, orientation to the department, and signing of a confidentiality contract

Preferred Qualifications: 

Students with related majors (social work, psychology, special education, family studies, nursing, etc.) are encouraged to apply
