Job Summary:

Preservation and conservation of library and archival materials. This position is great for either undergraduate or graduate students looking for hands-on experience in a preservation lab and is well-suited for anyone interested in museum studies, preservation/conservation, and/or history. This position requires 8-15 hours per week which must be completed Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9am-5pm.

Essential Duties:

- Perform basic book repairs
- Construct custom protective boxes
- Apply protective book covers
- Encapsulation of materials
- Creation of custom exhibition cradles and labels
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

- Have good manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Have the ability to work well independently
- Be dependable and possess a good work ethic

Preferred Qualifictions:

- Interest in preservation / conservation, museum studies, and/or history
- Knowledge of the proper handling of fragile documents and artifacts
- Shop experience inc. hand tools, working with sharp objects, fine measuring
