Job Summary:

 

Directly responsible for the oversight of Academics and Compliance within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA), Human Performance and Wellness; and the Miami Athletics Strategic Plan.
This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting in institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.

 

Duties/Physical Demands:

• Oversees and coordinates athletic academic coordinators and compliance staff and all activities related to academics and compliance, including student learning, retention, graduation and eligibility and admissions; hiring, assignment of work, and collaboration with campus partners, the Mid-American Conference, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, and the NCAA.
• Manages the Division of Human Performance and Wellness, including student-athlete health, safety, and well-being. This includes but is not limited to coordinating athletic training, strength coaching, mental health support, nutritional support, and sports performance.
• Facilitate strategic planning as it relates to all above areas and coordinates and oversees the modification/creation, implementation, and execution of the overall departmental strategic plan.
• Serve as a member of the ICA Senior Staff (Executive Leadership Team).
• Serve as a sports administrator for multiple sports.
• Willingness and ability to travel with athletic teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education; experience working with college students and diverse populations; 5-7 years of progressive Division I athletic work or closely related experience. Ability to work with diverse individuals and promote an inclusive environment. Experience as a sports administrator and as a manager of multiple units. Willingness and ability to be on-call, particularly in times of substantial academic workload (i.e. registration, final exams, graduation, summer orientation, and bridge programming.)

 

Desired Qualifications:

8+ years in higher education and, specifically, Division I Intercollegiate Athletics.
Significant eligibility/certification and daily compliance experience; Athletic Advising; Strategic Planning; Multiple on-campus experiences at various Division I levels; Mental Health and Human Performance/Wellness involvement.
Master’s Degree.
