Assistant Director of Residence Life

The Assistant Director is a live-on professional who serves as a central staff member for the Office of Residence Life. This position requires a master’s degree and 3 years of full-time post-master’s experience by appointment start date. The individual in this position must have post-master’s experiences in residence life, supervision, developing and maintaining effective cross campus partnerships, as well as a proven ability to relate to diverse populations. In addition to providing guidance, direction, and support for the overall mission, vision, and goals of the residential program at Miami University, this person is responsible for the supervision of 8 – 12 live-in staff members. Like all members of the Office of Residence Life, the Assistant Director is charged with shaping the environment and experiences of students by providing services and programs related to the Office of Residence Life’s Pillars of Success, which include (1) to provide safe and healthy homes, (2) to assist in increasing persistence and retention, (3) to promote inclusive and diverse communities, (4) to extend the learning environment beyond the classroom, and (5) to ease students' transition to adulthood. Full-time benefit package for the length of employment with the University with a starting salary range of $52,000 - $56,000. The anticipated start date for this position is June 1, 2024.

Shop assistants are responsible for enforcing policy and maintaining a safe and orderly work environment and assisting graduate and undergraduate students with projects and techniques. Shop assistants are also given the opportunity to hone their skills by helping to build various projects used in the shop and around the department facilities. Shop assistants work an average of one 10 -15 hrs. week. In addition assistants will be asked to arrive 1 week prior to the start of fall semester to attend a series of workshops where they will receive proper training in shop procedures, first aid and occupational safety and to become acquainted with the shop facilities.
