Welcome to the world of work! Our Career Treks help Miami University students gain insight into career opportunities in targeted regions.

Bring Careers to Life

Career Treks allow you to visit workplaces, transforming classroom concepts into real-world experiences. You will: 

  • Witness day-to-day operations and workplace dynamics.
  • Gain insider insight into industry trends, including the skills that are in demand and advancement opportunities.
  • Build professional relationships that may lead to future mentoring or job/internship opportunities.
  • Learn about workplace norms, communication styles, and professional etiquette so you can make a seamless transition to the workforce.
  • Assess if a field aligns with your interests, skills, and values so you can make an informed career decision.

Your Next Adventure

Our signature Career Treks include our Career Academy experience and our Presidential Career and Leadership Series city trips. They allow you to network with industry leaders, explore non-traditional career paths, and grow as a young professional.

Career Academy

Establish a global network, gain professional skills, and advance your cultural competencies by participating in this immersive program. Past treks went to Europe, New York City, and Washington, D.C.

Presidential Career and Leadership Series

Gain insight into work and life in major Ohio cities: Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus. You’ll meet with leading employers, engage in cultural activities, and explore career paths.

    Into the Capital City opened my eyes to the many incredible workplaces and initiatives in Columbus. As a Philosophy and Individualized Studies major, I hadn’t realized how many options I have after graduation. This experience showed me that my major has equipped me with valuable, transferable skills that extend beyond any single career path.

    Seeing Cincinnati from a business and tourist perspective, and even seeing it by boat, was a terrific experience. I heard about Miami alumni’s different career paths, which was invaluable because I was exploring my options in the Farmer School of Business at the time. I also enjoyed meeting employers because it gave me experience networking in a real-world setting.
