Job Summary: |
Research Scientists (multiple positions) to conduct aging related research. Research Scientists will support the Scripps Gerontology Center to continue Miami’s rich tradition of applied externally-funded research (e.g., NIH, NSF, PCORI) that address critical issues facing individuals, families, communities, and local, state and national governments. These positions are not tenure-track positions, however individuals can be hired at the Assistant, Associate, or Full level, depending on stage of career. SGC Research Scientists may apply for Adjunct status through an academic department, such as the Department of Sociology and Gerontology. For example, they may contribute as a guest lecturer and/or serve on graduate student comprehensive exam and/or dissertation committees. |
Duties/Physical Demands: |
The Research Scientist’s primary full-time, twelve-month assignment is to engage in, be responsible for, or oversee a significant area of research in a manner that advances the mission of the University in a significant and substantial way. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Required: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education for appointment as Assistant Research Scientist. For appointment at the Associate or Full rank, an active research agenda, have demonstrated effectiveness as a scholar and researcher, and record of external funding and publications must be commensurate with appointment. |
Desired Qualifications: |
Consideration may be given to candidates with substantive expertise that complements existing strengths of Scripps Gerontology Center researchers; applied research experience; evidence of effective research collaboration; strong portfolio of externally funded research. |
