Job Summary:

Costume Shop Assistants assist the costume designer and shop manager in creating costumes for MU Theatre productions, as well as help maintain general costume inventory and shop resources.

Essential Duties:

Help maintain an orderly work environment. Restock costume inventory (may involve some lifting and ladder climbing). Perform wardrobe labeling, repairs, alterations, and modifications. Wardrobe maintenance (proper storage, laundry and ironing). Hand sewing.

Minimum Qualifications:

Some basic sewing and organizational skills. At least one full hour time availability per shift, during shop hours (10am-6pm M-F). Interest in costumes and learning new skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Desirable, but not required: Costume cutting, draping, and construction from a pattern or drawing. Machine sewing. Serger (overlock) skills. Crafts and Millinery skills. Hair and wig styling.
