Updates to the Brand Standards and Editorial Guidelines are documented below in chronological order. This comprehensive log is intended to help users stay up to date with the latest changes and ensure consistent communication and implementation across all relevant platforms.
Brand Identity System, January 2025
Updates
- Co-Branding, page 23: Co-branding language has been updated to allow for creation of lockups related to an Official Partnership. Official Partnerships must be approved by General Counsel, and must be routed through UCM.
- Logo Misuse, page 21: Logo Misuse example in the bottom row, center, has been updated to accommodate the updated Co-Branding language.
Editorial Style, April 2025
Updates
- Times, Dates, Places, Emails, and URLs: URLs section updated to allow sentence case after the “/” for long URLs

New Features
- Beveled-M Supergraphic style, page 12: A new way to use the Beveled-M has been added to the logo usage section.
- Expanded Branding, page 25: Expanded Branding has been added to include guidelines for events, programs, or other branded university organizations who use their logo in marketing and communications materials.
- Expanded Color Palette, Ratios, and Color Combinations, pages 29-31: Two new tertiary colors were added to the color palette — Slate Blue and Medium Gray. The subsequent pages (ratios and color combinations) added these color swatches into the guidelines for usage.
- Rankings and Statistics Styles, page 35: Style guidelines for how to create a ranking or statistic in brand have been added.

- Stock Photography, page 43: Usage for stock photography has been updated with clearer guidelines.
- Common Elements and Design Layout Examples, pages 44-51: Both sections have been updated with our current design elements and how to use them in marketing and communications materials.
- Language has been updated throughout the document for clarification.
