Graeme Banks

Graeme Banks

Integrated Social Studies Education, Honors College

Bedford, New York

Ever since stepping foot on campus, Graeme Banks has exemplified initiative, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to Miami University by proactively seeking opportunities to make an impact. During his first semester, Graeme became an EHS Ambassador, which led to his service as co-chair of the EHS Dean’s Student Leadership Council.

In addition to leading within his academic division, Graeme is a dedicated member of the Miami University Student Foundation. Serving as Traditions Chair and later Campaign Chair, he strengthened student engagement and contributed to the organization’s long-term vitality and visibility.

One nominator wrote, “Something that sets Graeme apart is his ability to identify a societal or systemic need and take initiative to solve it.” Graeme is the founder of an educational technology startup, TransferU, which helps transfer students navigate course equivalencies. The program was recently accepted into the Google for Startups Cloud Infrastructure Program, providing resources and support to scale its technology.

Graeme is a member of the Miami University Honors College and is earning a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education with a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages endorsement.

 

Briahna Michelle Bush

Social Work

West Chester, Ohio

Briahna Michelle Bush, a Social Work major, has demonstrated exceptional service to Miami University and the broader community through her dedication to building relationships and strengthening connections. Her can-do attitude and strengths in problem-solving, reliability, and communication made her an invaluable contributor during her seven-semester tenure as a Child Care Staff member through the Regionals’ Work+ program.

Beyond Work+, Briahna balances her studies while serving at the Tutoring and Learning Center, leading her student organization, CRU, and completing an internship at the Butler County Courthouse. She is also a member of the Hamilton campus women’s softball team and has been recognized for her artistic contributions with the Excellence in Performance and Theatre Award.

One nominator wrote, “Through sustained volunteerism, leadership, and advocacy, Bri’s service to Miami University and surrounding communities reflects the highest standard of undergraduate service and leadership.”

Lindsey Cooley

Lindsey Cooley

English Studies

Middletown, Ohio

An English Studies major with a minor in Creative Writing, Lindsey Cooley serves as President of The Illuminati, Miami Regionals’ premier literary and creative arts student organization and journal. She has fostered a vibrant community of creatively minded students while strengthening the organization’s impact. Lindsey has led campus-wide engagement initiatives including a series of hidden zines, an open mic event, and a book drive for peers.

Beyond campus, Lindsey partners with Lane Libraries to expand the book drive and advance literacy efforts across the community. Her passion for literacy and serving her peers has made a meaningful impact on both the Miami University Hamilton Campus and Miami University Middletown Campus. Lindsey’s writing has appeared in multiple publications, and she was invited to present at the Student Scholar Symposium.

One nominator wrote, “She has shown nothing short of dedication, optimism, and enthusiasm for her work, all with a kind and compassionate commitment to the mission and vision The Illuminati has upheld for more than 30 years.”

Gracie Grady

Gracie Grady

Political Science

Farmington Hills, Michigan

Gracie Grady, a Political Science major, has made a meaningful impact at Miami University through her leadership and deep involvement across multiple organizations and community partnerships.
For the past two years, Gracie has served as Secretary for Communications and Media Relations in the Associated Student Government, fostering transparent communication between student government and the broader university community. She has also served as Chair of the Board for the Armstrong Student Center and currently co-chairs the Senior Class Gift Committee, a philanthropic initiative advised by University Advancement. Her experiences reflect sustained leadership focused on meaningful, lasting impact far beyond the classroom.

Additionally, as Senior Advisor for Federal Relations with the Miami University Government Relations Network, Gracie has supported a range of initiatives, including tracking legislation, collecting data, leading meetings with elected officials, and hosting university partners and policymakers for campus visits.

One nominator shared, “She brings intentionality, empathy, and resilience to every role—whether supporting student outreach, collaborating with community partners, or advocating for inclusive campus policies.”

Michael Halter

Michael Halter

Diplomacy and Global Politics

Wheaton, Illinois

Navy ROTC Midshipman First Class Michael Halter has made significant contributions over his four years to the university, his fellow students, and national and international partners. Through two Diplomacy Lab projects, he has engaged academically and professionally in applied public service in coordination with the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations. He ensured the completion of complex research initiatives that met rigorous faculty standards.

Michael also served as a student leader for Miami University’s inaugural International Leadership Conference. The conference invited students and community members to engage in lectures and interactive workshops. Michael coordinated logistics, moderated a fireside chat with Richard Clark, Executive Director of the College Football Playoff, and engaged with diplomatic delegations from Serbia and Hungary.

As Commanding Officer of Miami’s Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps unit, Michael is responsible for training, enforcing standards, and ensuring accountability for more than 67 fellow midshipmen. One nominator wrote, “His leadership has been steady, detail-oriented, and service-driven, qualities that have earned him the trust of superiors and the respect of peers.”

Michael is earning a Bachelor of Arts in Diplomacy and Global Politics with minors in Business, Aerospace Studies, and Naval Science.

Jack Isphording

Jack Isphording

Organizational Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Honors College

Cincinnati, Ohio

Jack Isphording has demonstrated exceptional service to Miami University through his sustained commitment to fellow students and the broader community. His extensive leadership includes serving as Search Committee Chair for the Board of Trustees Student Trustee selection process and as one of two student members on the University Mission Statement Revision Committee. One nominator shared, “What I admire most about Jack is his intentionality. He consistently reflects on the ‘why’ behind his involvement and how his actions contribute to a stronger campus community.”

As an Outreach Intern for the Office of the Dean of Students, Jack led the “Random Acts of Kindness” program and awareness campaign, engaging more than 2,000 students. He continued serving with preparation and poise as a Student Orientation Undergraduate Leader and in multiple leadership roles within Associated Student Government.

As ASG Secretary for Safety and Wellness, Jack oversaw a committee of eight senators addressing campus safety, mental health, dining, and student life in partnership with university leaders. Most recently, as ASG Chief of Staff, he strengthened executive operations and advanced key student government initiatives.
Jack is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership with a co-major in Entrepreneurship.

Ryan Jeansonne

Ryan Jeansonne

Art Education, Art Therapy

Columbus, Ohio

Ryan Jeansonne, an Art Education major with a co-major in Art Therapy and minors in Art and Architecture History and Photography, has gone above and beyond in service to his classmates, the College of Creative Arts, and the broader university community. As Treasurer of Miami’s chapter of the National Art Education Association, he has represented his peers by presenting at both state and national conferences. His service spans creative and community-centered initiatives, including leading a traveling art mural that invited student participation during Stress Less Week and partnering with the Myaamia Arts and Culture Education Project to teach area youth and help transform summer camp curriculum.

Beyond his discipline, Ryan has also served as Secretary of Safety and Transportation within the Associated Student Government. Under his leadership, the organization provided personal safety alarms to students as a proactive effort to support student well-being and campus safety.

One nominator wrote, “He is a leader who leads with his heart, and Miami is a safer, more connected place because of his efforts.”

Jada Kramer

Jada Kramer

Psychology, Public Health

Fort Mitchell, Kentucky

Jada Kramer exemplifies what it means to be a citizen leader, seeking opportunities to make a meaningful difference through her commitment to government relations, mental health and prevention initiatives, and community partnership. As Chief of Staff to ASPIRE’s Government Relations Network, Jada has coordinated higher education advocacy conferences, led policy briefings, and strengthened the network’s sustainability by establishing three new student-led committees to expand capacity and formalize operations.

Jada’s dedication to mental health and prevention spans multiple organizations. She serves as a HAWKS Peer Health Educator and has become a campus leader in suicide prevention. Her commitment to peer wellness includes enhancing training materials by integrating research on emerging concerns such as problem gambling. She also served on the executive leadership team of Miami Hope, a student-run organization dedicated to mental health awareness.

Beyond campus, Jada serves the broader community through internships and service focused on advocacy and wellness education. One nominator shared, “She ambitiously seeks out opportunities for growth, development, and service, and fully commits to making the most of those experiences for herself and those she is serving.”

Blake Mesenburg

Blake Mesenburg

Finance, Accountancy

Orono, Minnesota

Blake Mesenburg has made a meaningful impact for the RedHawks on campus, in the community, and on the ice as a member of Miami University’s NCAA Division I Ice Hockey team. During the 2024–2025 season, Blake served as assistant captain, demonstrating strong leadership and athletic excellence. As one nominator shared, “Take away the goals, assists, hits, and blocks, and it’s still very possible that Blake has had even more of an impact away from the rink.”

Blake’s service is most evident through Team IMPACT, where the RedHawks welcomed an area teenager diagnosed with a rare progressive neurodegenerative disease as part of their team family. Blake led efforts to create meaningful moments for Liam, organizing team game nights and even a surprise birthday celebration. His friendship and leadership earned him recognition as a finalist for Team IMPACT’s national Teammate of the Year award.

Beyond this work, Blake serves on the RedHawk Council student-athlete Advisory Council, coaches youth hockey, and remains actively engaged in the Oxford community.

Blake will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a co-major in Accountancy.

Olivia Patel

Olivia Patel

Journalism, Political Science

Mequon, Wisconsin

Olivia Patel’s impact extends far beyond campus through her longstanding commitment to hard work, late nights, and countless hours dedicated to delivering award-winning journalism to the Miami University community. As a member of The Miami Student, Olivia most recently served as Editor in Chief during the newspaper’s 200th year in circulation. She led planning for a three-day bicentennial celebration that welcomed nearly 200 alumni, students, and faculty.

Her service to her peers and leadership of fellow journalists helped the paper earn recognition as Best College Newspaper in Region 4, and her reporting earned a Society of Professional Journalists Greater Cincinnati Excellence Award for Best Student Reporter.

One nominator wrote, “I can’t think of a more thankless job at the moment than journalist, but it is an incredibly important service and Olivia has embraced it—not just as a reporter, but as a leader.”

Beyond the newsroom, Olivia serves as a College of Arts and Science Ambassador and a Student Advisor for the Journalism Program. She will graduate with degrees in Journalism and Political Science.

A’Dymond Sammons

A’Dymond Sammons

Electrical Engineering

Springfield, Ohio

A’Dymond Sammons, an Electrical Engineering major, has demonstrated a deep commitment to service and engagement within the College of Engineering and Computing. Since arriving on campus, she has championed recruitment and representation initiatives that uplift and inspire future students. As a sophomore, she participated in a first-generation advising panel and was featured in a college student commercial. Most recently, she shared her academic and leadership journey on the college’s Major Insights podcast.

Her leadership spans multiple areas of the university, from serving as a Resident Assistant to leading the National Society of Black Engineers as chapter President and now Region 4 Treasurer. In this role, she led 21 students to the national conference in Atlanta and coordinated a professional visit to Mercedes-Benz. She has also strengthened community engagement through service projects and creative fundraisers, including the “Pie and Engineering” mini pie sale.

One nominator wrote, “She embodies resilience, initiative, and a deep commitment to uplifting others while advancing her own goals.“

Bridget Stafford

Bridget Stafford

Integrated Mathematics Education

Columbus, Ohio

As lead instructor for the Crawford M.O.V.E. Bootcamps for four years, Bridget Stafford expanded participation in the program, impacting thousands of students through her leadership. Her presence is transformative, and her commitment and enthusiasm inspire those around her. Serving as lead—and ultimately sole—instructor since her sophomore year, Bridget helped turn the Crawford Bootcamp into a staple of the Miami University experience and even a “bucket list” event for many students.

One nominator shared, “Bridget’s impact will last far beyond her time at Miami—she will leave a lasting legacy, positively influencing the health, wellness, and sense of community for thousands of students.”

As a servant leader, Bridget brings the same reliability and dedication to every role she holds. She has served the Miami University Rec Center as a fitness instructor and student manager, strengthening community engagement by revitalizing the center’s social media presence. She also works as a math tutor, partnering with students and parents to build confidence and support academic growth.

Bridget will receive a degree in Integrated Mathematics Education with a minor in Spanish.

Janelle Tipton

Englewood, Ohio

Janelle Tipton exemplifies citizen leadership through her sustained commitment to service, learning, and building community across Miami University. As a Presidential Fellow and active leader in both the Honors College and the Wilks Institute for Leadership and Service, Janelle consistently seeks meaningful ways to support her peers and strengthen the student experience. She has served as a SEAL Leadership Ambassador and ULead facilitator, helping redesign curriculum that now supports hundreds of students each year.

Janelle’s impact is especially evident in her leadership within the Miami University Honors College. As an Honors Ambassador and student leader, she has welcomed prospective students, mentored scholarship candidates, and represented the university with warmth and professionalism.

Her commitment to education and community extends beyond campus through leadership, curriculum development, and mentorship. One nominator wrote, “At the heart of this nomination is the fact that Janelle is the type of person who sincerely wants to know who you are and honor all that makes you special by recognizing the unique components of each person.”

Chi Truong

International Studies

Dong Hoi, Vietnam

Chi Truong, an International Studies major, exemplifies what it means to be a global citizen through her leadership and service across multiple communities. During her time at Miami University, Chi has served as a Student Orientation Undergraduate Leader (SOUL), held leadership roles in two residence hall communities, and contributed as a Scholar Leader, creating a deep and lasting impact across campus.

Most recently, Chi was recognized as a Geoffrion Family Fellow, an honor awarded by the Miami University Humanities Center to join a community of advanced scholars. Her work included collaboration on a 10-member interdisciplinary research team and leading independent research analyzing federal and state policies affecting Vietnamese and broader Asian communities in the Midwest.

Beyond campus involvement, Chi served as a Social Media Team member for the Division of Student Life Communications team, studied abroad in Barcelona, and was selected from more than 300 applicants to serve as an IES Abroad Correspondent, documenting her experience overseas.

Ella Zawoyski

Public Health, Premedical Studies

Edina, Minnesota

A public health major with a pre-medicine co-major, Ella Zawoyski has made a meaningful impact at Miami University through her leadership, research, and sustained commitment to service. A standout scholar in public health, Ella pairs academic excellence with a strong sense of purpose, consistently translating learning into action that benefits others. She has been recognized as an Undergraduate Summer Scholar and as a recipient of the Western Center Social Impact and Justice Fellowship for her independent research examining mental health and healthcare access among Ohio’s refugee communities.

In addition to her research, Ella is the founder of The Hero Project, a student-led organization that supports individuals and families affected by addiction. Inspired by her own family’s recovery journey, she built a mission-driven initiative that has become a visible and respected presence on campus. Under her leadership, the organization has led awareness campaigns, built community partnerships, and engaged students in education and advocacy.

Ella also serves the broader community by volunteering with Loaves and Fishes and McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, supporting patients and families with compassion and care.
