Job Summary:

Responsible for coordinating all phases of interior design centric institutional projects along with process management of interiors work, for both new work and renovation of existing facilities.
Coordinates with various University departments, the State, and construction firms.

Duties/Physical Demands:

● Manage and oversee PFD projects involving furniture and finishes, and limited construction from initiation to closeout.
● Assist in design, selection, ordering, management and receipt of FFE (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) within projects managed by other PM’s
● Manage individual user requests involving FFE, including signage, not associated with a project.
● Assist in reviewing and managing FF&E procurement policies/procedures
● Manage inventory of furniture and finishes across campus for replacement planning.
● Develop and maintain design standards for Planning, Architecture, and Engineering (PAE)
● Support LEAN, process improvement, and related Divisional Goals.
● Plans, develops, forecasts, maintains, monitors, and analyzes a portion of budgetary responsibilities.

Follows established guidelines or professional norms.
Follows guidelines established by Ohio Revised Code 153, Project Managers manual and PFD policies.
Highly varied and unpredictable situations, complex and often non-recurring; new and creative approaches required.
Each project has unique challenges depending on type, budget, client, funding and delivery method. Adapt to shifting priorities and scope changes.
Results are defined (via the annual review process) and existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods; incumbent carries out work activities independently; supervisor/manager may resolve problems.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires an Associate’s degree or vocational/technical school training in interior design or architecture and
Interior design or architecture design or similar experience equivalent to or greater than four years of full-time experience.

Desired Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in interior design or architecture is preferred
NCIDQ Certification (the industry's recognized indicator of proficiency in interior design principles and a designer's commitment to the profession), preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to read, interpret and understand architectural drawings and specifications, design details and technical submittals with ability to maintain complete records of construction activities. Basic Word Processing and spreadsheet experience. Ability to become competent with project management software. The position requires a broad working knowledge of furniture, finishes and related systems and their supporting vendors. The position requires ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and must be able to prioritize and make appropriate decisions that are in the best interest of the University and are consistent with the objectives of the Department.
Ability to traverse distances of one mile to project sites and maneuver within a construction site with uneven ground on a regular basis. Exposure to dust and general construction environment.
