Job Summary:

The Equity and Equal Opportunity Specialist in the Office of Equity and Equal Opportunity (“OEEO”) will be responsible for assisting with the creation and implementation of the University’s annual Affirmative Action Programs (“AAP”), compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and University policies, and provide high-level administrative support for the department.

The Equity and Equal Opportunity Specialist will support the OEEO’s mission of promoting fairness and justice, ensuring that each member of the Miami University community is and feels included, and will foster a diverse and welcoming environment that is equally accessible for all who live, learn, work and participate in activities at Miami University.

Duties/Physical Demands:

Affirmative Action & Compliance (70%):
- Maintain the data collection and tracking of all employment-related activity (i.e. hires, promotions, lateral moves, etc.) for the AAPs; assist with preparing the data for upload into the AAP software system and the creation of the University’s annual AAPs.
- Review and approve position requisitions and hiring recommendations in the University’s applicant tracking system to ensure fairness and equity; place advertising with OEEO resources; work with departments/divisions, Human Resources ("HR") and/or Academic Personnel ("AcP") to resolve issues.
- Conduct applicant flow data (“AFD”) reviews on applicant pools for searches.
- Assist with the development of recruitment strategies and annual presentations for University and divisional leadership.
- Prepare data for required federal and state reports; certify affirmative action programs and respond to internal requests for affirmative action and equal employment opportunity information.
- Oversee compliance with Section 503 reminders and invitations for self-disclosure requirements.
- Provide guidance to departments/divisions regarding related federal/state/local regulations, University policies, and OEEO guidelines, and assists departments in solution delivery.
- Foster and maintain relationships with the HR, AcP, and other assigned department/division liaisons and representatives.
- Represent Miami University at local job fairs.
- Assist with investigative research and data preparation for analysis and reporting as needed.
- Assist OEEO staff in the development of training materials.

Administrative (30%) - may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Oversee the budget and purchasing for the department.
- Serve as case management and online training administrator.
- Schedule search committee and harassment/discrimination prevention training and create online training courses.
- Maintain the OEEO webpage.
- Coordinate departmental travel and host office guests.
- Prepare reports, assist with investigative research, and respond to requests for information.
- Manage the labor law posters and supervise student employees.
- Open the office, greet visitors, and answer phones.
- Oversee records retention and public records requests.
- Serve as building point of contact and submit work orders.
- Organizes files and compiles physical copies of affirmative action plans.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Five (5) or more years of affirmative action, equal opportunity, or human resources experience;
OR
- Associate’s degree and three (3) years of affirmative action, equal opportunity, or human resources experience;
OR
- Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of affirmative action, equal opportunity, or human resources experience.

Related experience gained during the completion of degree programs may be counted towards these requirements.

Desired Qualifications:

- Human resources or affirmative action certification.
- Experience with office management.
- Experience creating, implementing, and managing affirmative action programs.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems, human resource information systems, and/or enterprise resource planning systems.
- Experience working in a higher education setting.
