Job Summary: |
Joining a seasoned team of development professionals, the SAVP for Development, Central Programs will be tasked with leading one of the two primary units within the Division of Advancement. In the newly emerging structure of the division, the SAVP for Development, Central Programs will oversee approximately 27 staff members representing the central units within the office of development, to include: Corporate and Foundation Relations, Prospect Development, Gift Planning, Regional Development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs and initiatives, Annual Giving and Campaign Services.
Working in collaboration with the Principal Gift team and the SAVP for Development, Constituent Programs, the SAVP for Development, Central Programs will steer their respective units through the reorganization process, developing efficient processes for their unit, overseeing the capital campaign to completion in 2027, and serve as a committed advocate for the university, its students, faculty, staff and alumni.
In addition, the SAVP will work with senior leaders from across the institution to provide philanthropic support for the strategic goals of the university as well as the key goals and needs of each of their divisional partners.

Duties/Physical Demands: |
• Serve on the senior leadership team of Miami Advancement, as well as the university’s campaign committee • Mentor fundraising professionals with varying experience and responsibilities • Manage an annual operational budget of approximately $1.05 million (does not include salaries or PR/marketing) • Develop and manage annual fundraising plans and budgets for teams assigned to constituencies of assigned units and programs • Maintain a portfolio of principal gift donors • Establish productive and trusting working relationships with deans and academic directors to develop and support mission-critical priorities • Uphold university-wide standards for annual fundraiser achievement • Execute annual fundraising operating plans for assigned programs • Assist staff with navigating an established, complex organization through a time of transition and change • Engage academic leadership on major donor activities, including all cultivation and stewardship work as well as specific gift activities that involve assigned programs and units • Execute comprehensive campaign activities and projects, and meet targeted fundraising goals under the leadership of the Vice President

Minimum Qualifications: |
• Bachelor’s degree • 10 years of development experience in increasingly responsible roles in a large, complex organization
|
Desired Qualifications: |
• Advanced degree in related field • Experienced manager of multiple direct reports at varying points in their careers • Capital campaign leadership experience • Demonstrated experience closing principal and major gifts of $1M+ at an institution of higher education • An outgoing and positive personality, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative working style • Demonstrated ability to execute objectives and goals aligned to the mission of a complex, multi-location university and the ability to persuasively represent its goals to multiple constituents • Campaign and principal gift planning experience in higher education
