Visiting Faculty

Job Summary:

Computer Science & Software Engineering: Visiting faculty (part-time) to teach undergraduate courses on a per-course basis. Course assignments are made on a semester basis. Courses will likely be at the lower level of the following areas: software engineering, cybersecurity, systems, databases, programming, and other computer science topics. Appointment begins August 22, 2022. 

The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in computer science and in software engineering. A Bachelor of Arts in computer science curriculum is near the end of the approval process. Being established is a Center for Cybersecurity Research and Education through which the department will offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in cybersecurity and maintain a strong research program. A Master of Science in Computer Science degree is currently the highest degree program offered by the department. The total number of undergraduate majors is approximately 875. Over 40 students are enrolled in the growing research focused master’s program. Average class size is typically near 30. The faculty is currently comprised of 33 full-time individuals. Miami University is ranked 22nd in the nation for its commitment to undergraduate teaching by US News & World Report. In 2021, CodeSignal assessed Miami University graduates as being number two nationally in fundamental computer science and programming ability. Miami’s software engineering program is ranked tenth in the nation by Tech EDVOCATE.Minimum.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Educational Technology or a closely related field or a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a closely related field with a minimum of five years working with the relevant application(s) in a professional or secondary/higher education environment.

This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with experience in teaching computer science.
