Job Title: Student Associate

8.95/hr - 9.80/hr

Hours per Week: 12-22 hours
Job Summary:

The person in this position, under the supervision of the Library Associate, is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the library for use by Miami students, faculty, staff, and the community. The smooth operation of the library is critical to the Hamilton Campus, which places this position in a high-profile public service area of the library. All applicants must be a registered student at a higher education institution.

Work assignments require limited direction and supervision.
Experience or specialized knowledge in the area required.
Ability to provide training or tutorial consultation for employees or students.
Assist faculty in planning or producing instructional materials.
Work directly with management in technical tasks.

Essential Duties: Communicating appropriately with the library patrons.
Checking library materials in and out for patrons.
Maintaining the bookshelves.
Assisting with the circulation process (including books, digital equipment, Reserves, Interlibrary Loans, and OhioLINK items).
Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Customer service experience.
Ability to be flexible in unpredicted situations and changing schedules.
Courteous and attentive communication with patrons, supervisors, and co-workers.
Ability to work evenings, if needed.
Recognition of, and agreement with, the library's service mission.
