Job Title:

Assistant Professor

Job Summary:

Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Social & Behavioral Sciences to teach undergraduate courses on the regional campuses in sociology; advise undergraduate students; provide meaningful campus, discipline, and community service; and conduct research.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Sociology or closely related field by date of appointment.

Position not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates that have demonstrated experience and excellence in college teaching, especially in introductory medical sociology, the sociology of race/class/gender/sexuality, a well-documented service and scholarly record or articulated agendas for both active community service and continued scholarship; experience with non-traditional students; experience with online learning; advising experience; and strong skills in interacting and collaborating with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. Miami Regionals is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the Miami community through synthesis among their teaching, service, and scholarship.

Submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, teaching effectiveness (such as course evaluations or peer review), a statement of service and scholarly agenda, 2-3 representative reprints/preprints, and a 1-page statement addressing past and/or potential contributions to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or service.
