Job Title: Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Personnel
Job Summary:

Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Personnel to oversee faculty affairs and, in particular, support faculty and students in the delivery of undergraduate curriculum, including academic advising and student recruitment and retention efforts division-wide. The Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Personnel works closely with the Associate Dean Curriculum and Graduate Programs who is responsible for all areas of assessment, accreditation and curricular innovation for the FSB and the delivery of graduate curriculum.

The Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Personnel reports directly to the Dean of FSB. In addition to working closely with the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Graduate Programs, the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Personnel is expected to work collaboratively with all other members of the dean’s staff to develop strategy and implement divisional policies.

Duties/Physical Demands:

• Management of faculty affairs within FSB, including tasks related to:
o Hiring
o Promotion and tenure
o Retirement
o Divisional grants, leaves, and awards
o Annual evaluations
o Developing and implementing policies regarding faculty composition and compensation for the FSB

• Direct report for:
o Department chairs
o Institute for Entrepreneurship
o Assistant Dean and Director of Divisional Advising
o Center for Business Leadership
o Personnel Manager
o Assistant to the Associate Deans

• Final approver of policy, processes and workflow of personnel functions
• Negotiate issues related to the operations of human resources/academic personnel
• Monitor and execute all FSB professorship agreements to ensure implementation and management according to guidelines and policies
• Assists the dean with divisional strategic and financial planning
• Oversees changes to divisional governance
• Coordinates reviews of chaired professional and administrators
• Coordinates divisional committee assignments; along with the Associate Dean for Curriculum, serves as Dean’s liaison to FSB and committees as appropriate to area of responsibility
• Oversees FSB Executive Committee and Faculty Meeting agendas and execution
• Oversees website changes related to faculty resources
• Serves as FSB representative to various university committees, work groups, etc.
• Represent the division as needed at FSB, university, and external relations events

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be tenured, full professors in the Miami University Farmer School of Business and hold an earned doctorate in their discipline. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, collaboration and mentorship skills and be able to demonstrate a productive commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion across all areas of responsibility.

This position is available to persons who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under IRCA.)
