Job Title: Student Associate for Social Media
Salary/Grade:

8.95/hr - 9.80/hr

Job Summary:

The Student Associates for Social Media work with the Director of Communications for Student Life. They assist with the social media strategies and content for the Division of Student Life, and help support the 13 departments in the division on various marketing and communication projects. They produce engaging content across varying platforms, particularly focused on (but not limited to) events and activities on and around campus.

Essential Duties:

-Assist the Director of Communications with social media marketing to increase engagement, followership and web traffic for the central Student Life social accounts on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok.
-Assist the Director of Parent and Family Programs with select projects to enhance communication to families of Miami students.
-Attend events / meetings on campus (when possible) to take photographs / video and post real-time event content on social media.
-Create and edit on- and off-campus content to be posted on social media upon request or at your discretion.
-Contribute to the Student Life content calendar with engaging, visual, intentional and helpful posts for Miami students.
-Provide feedback and advise on current communication strategies, channels, and content.
-Take ownership of 2-3 deeper projects (e.g. video creation, print publication design, blog planning/writing, social media listening/engagement, analytics tracking and reporting, etc.) or other major projects throughout the year.
-Comply with Miami’s Social Media Policy guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Current Miami University student with minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
-Familiarity with campus resources, departments, offices and services available at the University
-Strong written and verbal communication (including copy editing and proofreading ability)
-Self-motivated and detail-oriented
-Proficient in at least a few social media platforms
-Strong computer skills include Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to learn new programs
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Comfortable with email as a primary means of communication

Preferred Qualifications:

-Passion for social media and marketing
-Proficiency in Adobe Suite (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects), and Canva
-Some video-editing experience

Please submit a resume and 3-4 samples of your work (e.g. blog posts, social media content or accounts you've worked on, slide decks, videos you've created, flyers, etc.). The samples can include anything you've created on your own for class, a group project, student organization, other job, etc.
