$8.70/hr - $9.65/hr

Job Summary:

Responsibilities are to instruct scheduled group fitness classes to a variety of populations with the safety and well-being of patrons always first priority, including answering or directing patron questions and concerns, as well as maintaining upkeep and cleanliness of the group fitness equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Maintains a safe and friendly environment, keeping patron well-being and satisfaction the priority.
• Creates and instructs varying types of group fitness lesson plans appropriate for multiple levels.
• Arrives at least 10 minutes prior to class to prepare music, check room cleanliness, set up equipment if needed, and greet participants as they arrive.
• Starts and ends classes on time.
• Stays after class to ensure all participants’ questions are answered, equipment is put away, and performance rooms are clean.
• Attends scheduled instructor meetings (generally once a month)
• Maintains current instructor, BBP and CPR certifications through continuing education workshops or classes, remaining up-to-date on safety and physiological issues as they pertain to group exercise.
• Wears attire appropriate for group fitness instruction.
• Keeps substitutions to a minimum, and preferably for urgent matters only.
• Knowledgeable in all emergency procedures.
• Attends mandatory in-services.
• Follows all staff requirements. Refer to RSC and Fitness Staff manuals.
• Present for staff evaluations. Refer to RSC staff manual.
• Helps to promote the program in the Miami University and Oxford Community.
• Other duties as assigned

Completes the Instructor Training Program (ITP) and/or completion of successful audition.
• Obtains CPR/AED certification within 30 days of employment
