Salary/Grade:

$8.70/hr - $9.80/hr

Job Summary:

Job Overview:

The American Culture and English Program (ACE) Writing Lab is hiring new writing tutors. The Lab provides various academic support services to ACE students, mainly focused on written texts. Dedicated tutors will work on writing and grammar skills with ACE students to improve their English proficiency and prepare for their assignment or test. Each one-to-one tutoring session will last 20-30 minutes.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The tutors will support ACE students to develop the following skills.
Brainstorm and logically develop ideas
Self-edit academic papers
Provide an appropriate writing structure for various genres in academic writing
Use proper Works Cited (MLA) for essays or PowerPoint slides
Proofread academic essays
Develop MLA formatting skills
Use paraphrasing to avoid plagiarism
Concisely summarize academic texts
Make outlines
Create and use PowerPoint

Work assignments require limited direction and supervision.
Experience or specialized knowledge in the area required.
Ability to provide training or tutorial consultation for employees or students.
Assist faculty in planning or producing instructional materials.
Work directly with management in technical tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Strong writing and grammar skills
Strong one-to-one communication skills

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Every Mon and Thurs starting Sept. 16 (Weds may be added based on student needs), 6:00 PM-8:00 PM.
Required online and face-to-face training will be held the week of Sept. 9 (paid work hours).
