Director of Clinical Placements

Job Summary:

Develop and maintain relationships with schools and related partners to foster teacher preparation and field placements (professional development training, creating programmatic changes), oversee the logistics for field and student teaching placements, supervise and provide daily guidance to Clinical Field Supervisors and administrative assistants; facilitate curricular and programmatic connections with Teacher Education and Special Education Faculty between field courses and field placement; collaborate with other Miami University units for the proper coordination of programs, student observations, etc. as necessary; represents College of Education, Health, and Society in various local and statewide groups related to teacher licensure.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters with earned degree in education field and 8 years of experience working in the K-16 school context as a teacher, counselor, or other licensed professional.

This position is available to persons who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under IRCA.)

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates who in addition to the required qualifications have experience working with student teachers; experience directing student teaching or clinical field placement office; developing and facilitating school partnerships between K-12 settings and the university. Extensive knowledge of, and working relationship with, school districts within the southwestern region of Ohio. Experience with and knowledge of edTPA or other teacher performance assessments. Some experience working with multicultural and/or diverse populations.
