Job Title: Program Coordinator & Advisor
Job Summary:

Provide accurate and current curricular information for prospective high school applicants and admitted nursing students at Miami University; assist in the planning and implementation of targeted academic advising outreach for majors on the Oxford campus; support the Office of Admission during campus visit programs by presenting to prospective students and their families; provide academic advising during Orientations; serve as an advising resource for nursing faculty; support efforts of Career Services and Professional Development; utilize advising tools such as DARS, transferology.com, SSC-Campus, and SCT Banner; implement special projects and initiatives for the nursing department; support Living Learning Community programming for first and second year students, and programming for third and fourth year students to continue to support cohort learning. The position is 12-month, full-time. Some evenings, weekends, and local travel between Oxford, Hamilton, Middletown, West Chester, Cincinnati and Dayton.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree must be earned by the start date; at least one year of experience, post baccalaureate, in academic advising and/or related student development programs in a university or community college setting. Relevant experience gained during a graduate program may also apply. Must have experience working with diverse student populations and those seeking admission into a competitive program. Excellent written and oral communication (including public speaking), interpersonal, collaborative skills, organization, and technological skills. Requires an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. This position is available to persons who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under IRCA.)

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred in student affairs, higher education, college student personnel, counseling, nursing, or related field; experience advising or working in a healthcare field. An understanding of student development theory and an understanding of the purpose and advantages of a liberal arts education.
