The Assistive Technology Student Master, will assist the AccessMU Center in supporting accessibility fundamentals across the University by providing information and services to enhance equal access for students with and without disabilities. The AccessMU Center is responsible for accessibility policy, procurement and testing of documents, websites, and applications for accessibility and manages the remediation of documents and course materials. This position requires a minimum of 10 hours per week. A background check is required for this position. Background checks will be processed through Human Resources. Duties: ● Manage and supervise incoming requests for services provided by the AccessMU Center. ● Work individually and as part of a team to research, analyze, document and test applications, websites or documents for accessibility. ● Assist in gathering information and writing technical documents and reports with the results of accessibility testing, including suggested fixes. ● Review documents and reports for Quality Assurance (QA). ● Develop documentation for accessibility testing and training. ● Create alternative formats using the following techniques: scanning documents using OCR software, editing and zoning documents, performing file conversions, and extracting data from publisher PDF files or scanned images. ● Assist in managing and processing captioning requests for the University. ● Create content and prepare tactile images using specialized equipment such as the Tactile Graphic Machine & the Tiger Braille Embosser. ● Inventory, issue, collect, and support assistive technology. ● Fulfill other duties as assigned.
