Miami has developed partnerships with Ridgeway Elementary in Hamilton City School District and with the Oxford Lane Library in an effort to provide support and assistance for children in grades K-3 in the areas of reading, writing, spelling, and vocabulary. No previous tutoring experience is necessary. All College of Education, Health, and Society students can apply. Applicants must commit to the 2 weeks of service. If recommended for hire by the Learning Lab, you will be required to pass a State of Ohio criminal background check before being hired. The cost of the background check will be covered by the Learning Lab.

Transportation/Delivery Asst (Vending)

Responsible for maintaining an assigned vending route on campus. This positions key responsibility is to complete an assigned route daily, including stocking all machines in each building. This is a fast paced work environment. Daily routes can include up to 11-12 buildings and when available part time student help may be available to assist with the route duties during busy periods of the year. This position is assigned duties such as preparing stock and loading products into machines as one of the main functions. Also placing orders, occasionally working in warehouse stocking trucks putting vendor deliveries away, inventory duties and cleaning and maintaining our equipment are also essential parts of the job. Beverage and snack vending is our the focus. This position is responsible for utilizing inventory programs throughout the day to create stocking reports with an I-pad and other systems. This position utilizes I-pads to access necessary website programs and apps to maintain stock in machines throughout the day. This is fast paced route work requires repetitive lifting, getting in and out of a tall truck box and pushing two wheel dollies with significant weight from the truck to stock machines throughout the shift Hours and days are- 5am-1:30pm Monday-Friday with some OT available.

Camp Ubuntu Tutors

Miami has developed partnerships with several local schools and organizations throughout Butler and Hamilton counties in an effort to provide one-on-one support and small group assistance for children in grades K-6 in the areas of reading, writing, spelling, and vocabulary. No previous tutoring experience is necessary. All College of Education, Health, and Society students can apply. Candidates must commit to work each day of the program during the 3 weeks of service. Candidates will be required to submit a State of Ohio criminal background check or obtain one through the Miami University Police Department or an acceptable location before being hired. The cost of the background check will be covered by the Learning Lab.
