Job Summary: |
Student Dialogue Co-Facilitators provide hands-on dialogue facilitation for GLI's two intergroup dialogue programs: Voices (for Miami students); and ChangeMakers (for Miami faculty and staff). Intergroup Dialogue (IGD) is an innovative practice in higher education that promotes participant engagement across cultural and social divides, the fostering of learning about social diversity and inequalities, and the cultivation of an ethos of social responsibility. This approach to diversity education on college and university campuses responds to a growing need for educational practices that prepare students, faculty, and staff to live, work, and lead in a complex, diverse, and stratified society.

Essential Duties: |
• Co-facilitation of at least one section of: Voices of Discovery (which meets for two hours weekly for 7 to 12 sessions per semester), or ChangeMakers (which meets for two hours weekly for 8 sessions during the academic year). • Performance of duties according to the CAWC’s training and prescribed Lesson Plans. • Weekly preparation for class sessions with at least one other Student Dialogue Co-Facilitator. • Attend bi-weekly team meetings with a member of the CAWC staff for supervision and support (60 to 75 minutes once every two weeks during the semester). • Minor administrative duties (grading, reporting, communicating, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications: |
• Class standing at the time of application: graduate student or rising senior or junior. • Enrollment in at least six credit hours per semester • Class schedule that allows for dialogue co-facilitation of at least one Voices or ChangeMakers Dialogue cohort per semester. • Provide a high level of customer service with a positive attitude. • Be willing to stay in and resolve conflict. • Be punctual and reliable. • Demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork and accountability. • Remain open to learning new concepts and growing professionally.
