Job Summary:

Assistant/Associate/Full Clinical Professor will include teaching at the graduate level and will also serve as the program director of an anticipated new online Counselor Education master’s degree program in the Department of Educational Psychology. The role will be responsible for leading the development, operations, accreditation, and growth of the program. Teaching load in the first two years will be substantially reduced in order for the new hire to focus on the program proposal, new course proposals, existing course revisions, online course development, field placement site identification, accreditation, recruitment planning, and other essential program planning tasks. This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to lead, innovate, and set the direction for a new program that will prepare future counselors to effectively meet the mental health needs of diverse populations.  This position will have the unique opportunity to apply their visionary leadership skills to develop and propose a new online Counselor Education master’s degree program that will seek accreditation through the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Position is not eligible for tenure and begins August 2023.

The Department of Educational Psychology at Miami University includes academic programs of study in Learning Sciences and Human Development, School Psychology, Special Education, Educational Technology, and Instructional Design and Technology.

College of Education, Health and Society (EHS):  Founded in 1902, the College of Education, Health, and Society was Miami University’s first professional school and home to Miami’s first graduate of color. Minimum Qualifications:

For appointment Assistant Clinical Professor: Ph.D. from a counselor education program.  The candidate must also actively identify with the counseling profession through memberships in counseling organizations, and must either be license eligible or maintain license(s) relevant to their counseling specialty area.

For appointment to Associate Clinical Professor:  Ph.D. from a counselor education program or have an earned doctoral degree in a related profession and have been employed as full-time faculty in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year prior to July 1, 2013. Evidence of high-quality teaching, academic advising, university services, and professional collegiality.  The candidate must also actively identify with the counseling profession through memberships in counseling organizations, and must either be license eligible or maintain license(s) relevant to their counseling specialty area.

For appointment to Full Clinical Professor:  Ph.D. from a counselor education program or have an earned doctoral degree in a related profession and have been employed as full-time faculty in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year prior to July 1, 2013. Evidence of a cumulative record of high-quality teaching, academic advising, university service, and distinction or excellence in some area of pedagogy or service. The candidate must also actively identify with the counseling profession through memberships in counseling organizations, and must either be license eligible or maintain license(s) relevant to their counseling specialty area.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a fulltime and indefinite basis.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates have (a) earned their doctoral degree in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program; (b) evidence of leadership skills that would position them to be an effective program director; (c) demonstrated effectiveness in teaching (including preferably in an online modality); (d) demonstrated  sustained professional development activities related to professional service and advocacy in counseling; (e) familiarity with the CACREP accreditation process; and (f) demonstrated commitment to ethics, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
