Job Summary: |
The Assistant Director position is designed to assist the Associate Director, Aquatic Center in the operation of the Aquatic Center so that the health and well being of patrons and staff is upheld to the highest standard. The Assistant Director assumes functional and administrative responsibility for the Learn to Swim & Dive program, Family Fun Days, American Red Cross and Water Fitness. Also serves to provide program coverage, facility coverage, and supervision of special events as needed.

Duties/Physical Demands: |
• Required to perform duties with limited supervision and will be responsible for making significant independent decisions. • Provide supervision of the Recreational Sports Center and equipment safety checks to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons. • Direct, manage, and evaluate the Learn to Swim & Dive program, (8-10 students) including training, supervision, hiring, discipline and scheduling. • Direct, manage and evaluate the Water Fitness program, (2-4 instructors) including training, supervision, hiring, discipline and scheduling. • Direct, manage and evaluate Family Fun days. • Direct, manage, and evaluate Private Swim Lessons. • Assist Associate Director with the development, recommendation, and management of assigned program aquatic budgets. • Direct and compile program specific internal and external public relations. • Direct and compile program specific learning outcomes and job satisfaction data. • Assist with marketing of aquatic related programs. • Assist with the recruitment, hiring, and training of lifeguard staff. • Assist with PDF department special events as requested. • Direct and functional supervision of 8-10 Learn to Swim & Dive instructors • Direct and functional supervision of 2-4 Water Fitness instructors • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: |
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Exercise Science or related field or 3 – 5 years of demonstrated experience in a large multi-use aquatic facility supervising programs, events and a large staff. • American Red Cross CPR/PR, Lifeguard Training, and First Aid certifications, WSI. Or aquired after hiring.

• American Red Cross CPR/FA/LG instructor certifications, or WSIT, LGIT certifications.
