The Information Security Office and Security, Compliance and Risk Management team has an opening for a student employee to aid in the handling of cybersecurity reviews and risk assessments for both on-premise developed applications and cloud based services. Additional responsibilities include compliance audits to ensure adherence to internal standards and assisting with security awareness programs.
Work assignments require advanced knowledge, skills, or abilities. Some independent judgment or initiative. A considerable knowledge of the work process as obtained through on-the-job training. May involve supervisory responsibilities for an activity of limited scope. May require a significant amount of physical exertion, adverse hour, or working conditions.

Essential Duties: |
Applies a basic knowledge of information security and risk mitigation principles, theories and techniques in daily work
Work individually and as part of a team to research and evaluate applications and services for use by the institution; Perform risk assessments and determine the level of risk within each application or service
Facilitate the day to day needs of the department such as handling cybersecurity-related tickets and investigate reported phishing scams
Perform compliance audits against University accepted cybersecurity controls
Assist in planning educational and awareness cybersecurity activities appropriate for campus audiences
Review and update documentation for policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: |
An information security background. Preferred concentration in Information Security or Information Technology
Skills in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Sheets and Docs
Good verbal and written communication skills
Critical thinking skills
Conscientious and attentive to detail
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Able to maintain confidentiality while handling and viewing confidential information
Must uphold, enforce and abide by all University policies
Must complete a background check with Miami University Police Department
