Assistant Teaching Professor

Job Summary:

Assistant Teaching Professor in macroeconomics to teach undergraduate economics; advise students; and provide service to students and the institution.  Start date of the position is August 2020.

Duties:

Teach undergraduate economics; advise students; and provide service to students and the institution.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in economics by date of appointment.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching high quality courses in Principles of Macroeconomics, Money and Banking, and upper-level courses; commitment to excellence in teaching large sections of each course (Principles of Macroeconomics, Money and Banking); commitment to pedagogic innovation; or demonstrated enthusiasm for undertaking student-centered service responsibilities such as academic and extracurricular advising; or student advising experience.  Service responsibilities undertaken by faculty in the department could include developing and maintaining the data that department uses for strategic planning; developing and maintaining teaching materials and resources shared by the department; and/or providing support for one or more of the following:  Visiting faculty teaching Principles of Economics, assessment of Principles of Economics and other courses, e-learning, career opportunities for students.

Date to Begin Screening Applicants:

Screening of applications will commence on November 4, 2019.  To be guaranteed full consideration, complete applications should be submitted by November 25, 2019.  Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the January, 2020 ASSA meetings in San Diego.  The position will be open until filled.
