Job Title:

Student Assistant - Regional Student Services Middletown

Salary/Grade:

$8.80/hr - $9.65/hr

Job Summary:

8-5 Mon through Fri offered by Virtual Webcam and inPerson Tutoring Sessions 

Evening and Weekend  offered by Virtual Webcam Sessions only

The ability to work virtually requires the following equipment:

Computer

Webcam

Speakers

Microphone

WiFI

Tutors must take EDT310- Peer Tutor Training Level 1.

Tutors may take -Peer Tutor Training Level 2

After a certain amount of tutoring hours are completed, along with the training courses, promotions and pay raises are available.

Work assignments are completed under close supervision.

Procedures are well established.

Employees typically follow well-defined policies and procedures.

Communicating effectively with students, faculty, and staff

Handling confidential and/or sensitive information requiring diplomacy

Accurate data entry

Use of Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Use of Google Drive, such as Docs, and Sheets

Use of Video Conferencing Platforms- such as Google Meets, Zoom, WebEX, and others.

Assisting students in a variety of ways

Other duties as needed



Tutoring:

Prior knowledge of course content, with a minimum of a B+ for the final grade.

Scheduling appointments through Google Calendar and scheduling application.

Writing comprehensive appointment summaries for tutoring appointments.

Effectively communicate lessons or subject matter to the tutees

Maintain the office rules and professional ethics 

for tutoring

Other duties as needed



Other:

Basic computer skills

Assisting staff in a variety of duties

Making copies whenever necessary

Other duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Maintain good academic standing

Maintain a 3.3 minimum GPA

Average typing speed

Reliable, with excellent attendance habits

Detail-oriented

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Courteous, welcoming demeanor and dedication to assist students, parents, faculty, and staff

Self-motivated

Strong organizational skills

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to work in an independent work environment with minimal supervision

Ability to work well under stress and time pressure

Ability to work one on one with a tutee

1 recommendation from previous employers, volunteer supervisor, pastor, etc.

1 recommendation from professor

 
Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work after 5 PM and weekends (By webcam only)

Work Study selected on the FAFSA form

Maintain a 3.5 GPA

Ability to work in a group setting
