Job Title:

Assistant Manager Trades Shop Mechanical-HVAC/R

Salary/Grade:

$20.60/H2

Job Summary: Assists in overseeing activities related to performing mechanical and craft repairs primarily with mechanical and HVAC/R systems and equipment.
Duties/Physical Demands:

Ability to read, interpret, and understand drawings, specifications, ability to trouble-shoot complex systems and mechanical equipment/components
Position is considered essential staff and expected, within reason, to respond to off-hours emergencies and telephone calls
Maintain detailed and complete records of maintenance and repair activities
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of persons
Thorough understanding of modern customer service theories, practices and methods
Able to successfully handle multiple tasks at once, and be able to determine appropriate priorities; must be able to make independent interpretations and make appropriate decisions in the best interest of the organization
Capable of performing basic computer functions; proficiency in the use of business application software, to include word processor, spreadsheet, and database programs; experienced in the use of a computerized maintenance-management software program

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires nine months of technical training and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires driver's license.

Desired Qualifications:

Ten years full-time verifiable experience in the mechanical/HVAC field; demonstrated management talents
Thorough understanding of facility Mechanical-HVAC systems and methods associated with maintenance, repair, and operation

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of skilled trades
Knowledge of computer
Supervisory skills

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Physical effort usually requires considerable walking and standing with some lifting of materials weighing 25 to 50 pounds. Periodic assignments are given which entail dealing with modestly unpleasant physical situations.
