CADS Technical Student M1U

Technical Interns will provide office hours for open source programming support to the broader Miami community in the CADS EY Analytics Learning Lab. These office hours will focus primarily on general troubleshooting of code, coding logic, and “how to” coding questions. The Technical Interns will also be responsible for developing a Coding Bootcamp Microcredential. This bootcamp will focus on teaching the fundamentals of coding to students unfamiliar with open source programming. As a way to support the data literacy efforts of CADS, the Technical Interns will offer analytics office hours to assist with the manipulation and interpretation of data to solve analytics and data science projects (prior approval from an instructor is needed before the Technical Interns can offer support of class projects). Work performed is highly complex and requires extensive training (either coursework or in-house departmental training). Work is done independently of supervision. For Academic and Administrative Assistance settings, the student must: Engage in web authoring, JAVA, SQL, Basic C++, and create databases using various software packages. Provide support for divisional/departmental services. Provide supervisory functions including, but not limited to, scheduling, determining training needs, preparing training materials, and conducting training sessions. Demonstrate evidence of advanced technical and customer support leadership, skills in mentoring, training, expert management, and intermediate business. For University Police setting, the student must: Serve as public safety dispatcher, emergency response coordinator, and handle confidential information.
